Hoosiers Outrun Cancer

This Saturday we participated in Hoosiers Outrun Cancer for the 3rd year. We really enjoy going out as a family and supporting something that means so much to us. This year we were really able to talk to Grayson about why we were running/walking and what it meant. I know he can't fully grasp the concept of cancer, but he knows what it means to be sick and knows it's not fun. He really paid attention to what we were saying and then just sat thinking about it for a long time.

This was the first year that we let Gray participate in the competitive 1-mile kids' run. He did AWESOME! Gray finished his mile in just under 12 minutes and we were so proud. Who knew that my four year old son would be the inspiration I've been needing to keep working on my running? Scarlett and I did the 1-mile Family Fun Walk, and she screamed most of the way. Scarlett would much rather be out running with the big kids than strapped down in her stroller.
She hung in there, though, and was fine once she had a snack. Nate ran the 5K and also did really well. His goal was to finish in 25 minutes, and he finished in under 24!

Chillin' before the race.

A quick warm-up jog.

Trying to corral our littlest runner.

A quick family picture.

Gray and his running buddies.
Scarlett really wanted to get out and run.

Lining up before the race.

All tired out after the run.

Congratulations to Gray, Lily and Matthew on their running times! A woman I work with said Gray's time is better than hers.
