Uncharted Territory

My friend Melissa commented on how happy I looked in the last picture I posted, and I just had to tell her thank you for noticing. It was so nice to know that my happiness with this pregnancy really shows. I can not even begin to tell you how much I am loving being pregnant. I actually love my growing belly and protruding belly button (yes, it happened). I love every jab, kick and roll that this baby makes. I love that Grayson "talks" to his sister every night before going to bed, and tells her to "stay put," and I anxiously await every doctor appointment not out of fear, but just to hear her heartbeat and the doctor tell me everything sounds good.

But at the same time, I have to tell you that I have completely entered new territory with this pregnancy. Sure, I had the minor aches and pains when I was pregnant with Grayson. My hips ached on a daily basis and I was never quite sure when they might give out under me. I developed severe carpal tunnel that has never truly gone away, and I swelled to epic proportions.

So far, knock on wood, my carpal tunnel hasn't really gotten all that bad (except for the third month of this pregnancy, which I think is good), and no swelling at this point. But holy hell, does my right butt cheek hurt! What is this? Is this the whole sciatic nerve thing that I keep hearing about? And if it is, does it have anything to do with my left leg being perpetually numb, too? I try so hard to walk like a normal person, but with one leg numb and the other leg/butt cheek throbbing in pain, it's virtually impossible. But like I said, I am loving being pregnant, even when it means I walk like a ninety-year old arthiritic women. ;)

I feel for you! My feet swelled so bad that there was just a straight line from my thighs to my toes. Cankles? I had Thankles. It does sound like you have a bebe resting on your sciatic. I would recommend laying in different positions to see if you can get her to shift. Good luck! I will keep my eye out for any good deals on walkers or canes. ;)

I think that does sound like sciatic nerve issues. Ick. Hopefully she will move soon and give you some relief! Isn't it funny how different pregnancies are? I guess they are as unique as the resulting babies!

I totally agree with you about loving being pregnant. I do too. But I don't miss the aches and pains. I actually had a gas bubble today that reminded me of a baby moving. How pathetic is that!

LOL! That's so funny Emily! Something like that would just make me want to be pregnant again. ;)
