Pillow Talk

Pillow talk has taken on a whole new meaning in the Irwin household. The past two mornings, Gray has woken up earlier than I would have liked, and since I was still exhausted and just not ready to be awake, I did what many exhausted parents would do....I brought him into our bed. Now this is something that I have no intention of making a habit of, and for the most part, Gray has no desire to be in any other bed than his own (thank God), but the past two mornings have been an exception. Friday morning I brought him in around 4:30 (I think) and was "shushing" him on the way there so that he wouldn't talk and wake Nate up. Yeah, like that was EVER going to happen. He had only been laying there for about a minute when he says at the top of his lungs, "Daddy's sleepin' ?" Well, he was. Fortunately Grayson finally fell back to sleep and slept until almost 7:00. The flip side, Nate and I were pretty much up from that point on.

And then comes this morning. Gray woke up at a fairly normal time of 6:10 am. Unfortunately, after a late night out and being exhausted once again, this momma was not getting up. So I trooped back into our room again with my wide-awake son and told him he had to be quiet. What was I thinking? My little chatter-box couldn't wait to be up and start his day, and when he wasn't intermittently talking, he was thrashing about and kicking me in the face. My particular favorite moments: when Grayson proclaimed "Daddy's naked! (he only had his shirt off people)," and "I have to poop!" And honestly, I wouldn't want to start the day any other way.

I can hear him VERY clearly in my head..."Daddy sleepin' Mommy?" :) I love the way his voice sounds when he asks those questions! "Your coat is brown, Nicki?" "Hey Nicki! You got chicken nuggets?" "You going bye bye Nicki?"

Ah, we have been as well. I love the old well placed but unintentional kick to the head! Also, Matthew likes to talk louder when you shush him... I think this is the age of opposites!!!
