A Second Birthday

My girl turned TWO on Wednesday.

We had the whole day to spend together,
just Scarlett and I.
Not sure that's ever happened before.
I kept thinking we needed to do something BIG,
like going to Indy for the zoo or children's museum.
But then I decided we needed a day to just hang out,
just us girls.

So we took Grayson to the bus.
Scarlett LOVES taking her brother to the bus and screaming,
"BYE GRAY!!!"
at the top of her lungs.
Makes me smile every. single. time.
We walked back home and got the car.
We drove to Target.
Scarlett loves touching the big red balls outside of the store.
(writing that feels really wrong)
She was thrilled when I sat her on top of one of them.

After Target, we drove over to Kohl's for some more shopping.
Scarlett picked out a pair of jeans
and insisted on carrying them through the store.
My little Miss Independent.
We met Daddy for lunch.
We haven't had just Scarlett to ourselves for almost a full year.
It was strange to be without Grayson,
but we really enjoyed having Scarlett to ourselves.

We headed back home for a nap,
but Scarlett had other ideas.
So we went outside where she took her baby for a walk instead.

We waited at the bus stop for Gray to come home,
something Scarlett enjoys as much as sending him off.
As each car goes by, she'll give me a big smile and say,
"That's not the bus!  That's a green/blue/black car!"

We came home and laid low the rest of the afternoon.
It was nice to be in a quiet house with my kiddos.

Nate made us a yummy dinner,
which Scarlett almost didn't make it through
thanks to her napping situation.
We gave her her cupcake
and sang Happy Birthday.
Grayson took pictures as she blew out her candles.

She was thrilled to discover her new Crocs.
My girl definitely loves her shoes.
She was even more thrilled to discover
her new Yo Gabba Gabba dvd,
which I think she may actually love more than shoes right now.
Maybe almost as much as she loves her big brother.

I still can't believe she's 2!!! What a nice birthday Scarlett had. Thanks for sharing. The dress Grandma Linda bought her couldn't be cuter.

Hugs and kisses to everyone.

Kelly, loved the pictures. That's special that Scarlett got to have you all to herself most of the day and then lunch with daddy too! She'll probably be ready for another birthday next week!
