5 Months

Dear Scarlett,

Today you turned 5 months old and, once again, I am amazed at the little person that you have become. This past month, your personality really blossomed. You are still an incredibly smiley little girl, but you've added lots of those wonderful baby giggles into the mix. You love to hear yourself talk, and even more, you love to have people mimic the sounds you make. One of my favorite things this past month has been watching you try to blow razzberries. You watch mommy so intently when I do it, and then you blow with all your might. It has really been one of my little joys this month.
You are a complete wiggle worm and spin yourself in circles any time you're on the floor. You've discovered bouncing and will bounce around whether you are in your jumperoo or just being held. You love to be in a standing position whenever possible, though you might want to learn how to sit up by yourself before you start standing.

You are so aware of your brother and daddy and crain your neck to find them whenever you hear their voices. If daddy doesn't come straight to you when he gets home from work, you twist your body towards him and just grin until he notices you, and then you grin even more.

You still aren't taking a bottle, so we went ahead and got you a sippy cup. You're actually doing okay with it, which mommy is happy about. We started you on rice cereal today. You did such a great job and knew to open your mouth every time the spoon came near you. Of course, you still made the face that we were all expecting to see: Your sleeping patterns are still pretty erratic no matter what mommy tries. Some nights you will sleep for 4-6 hour stretches at a time, and others you are up every 2 hours. I've kind of given up at this point and just think it will all work out in the end. After all, how can I be upset when I look at you like this:
